Baraboo Doctor Proves To Be Valuable Mentor

Dr. Thomas R. Flygt, of Baraboo Internal Medicine and Dean/St. Mary's Regional Clinics, was honored at the 55th Annual Scientific meeting held last weekend at the Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells.

Flygt was awarded the 2010 Community-Based Physician and Mentor Award of the Wisconsin Chapter of the American College of Physicians.

The American College of Physicians recognizes exceptional physicians who have demonstrated a commitment to the mentoring of medical students.  

"SMDV appreciates all of the effort that Dr. Flygt has given over the years to the education of medical students and residents," said Dr. Timothy Rentmeester, SMDV Medical Director.  "Further we recognize the work that he has done in improving end of life care for patients in the Baraboo area.  We congratulate Dr. Flygt on a well deserved honor."

Flygt has mentored and taught first and second-year medical students from the Medical College of Wisconsin and the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health since starting Baraboo Internal Medicine in 1982.

Dr. Flygt practices internal medicine, including geriatrics and gastrointestinal endoscopy, at Baraboo Internal Medicine and Saint Clare Hospital.  He is also the Medical Director of Saint Clare Meadows and Golden Living Center in Wisconsin Dells.
